Hey Divas! This is an update for our Fashion Show!!

We will have our show next class, May 24 & 25! Please come at 3:00 on your class day, DO NOT BE LATE!!

Our show will begin for parents and friends at 3:30.

We will have our show, awards, and cake.

Our theme is "DIVAS and DIAMONDS"

Wear your official Divas and Diamonds tank top to school on the day of your class.

Don't forget your flipflops, and hairbrush!

This is our sweet little bunny project we made this week for Easter. The fabric is a soft berber with a crooked hand embroidered nose and button eyes. So Cute!

Wall Flowers

This weeks project was a beautiful Wall Flower! The hint for the guessing game in class was "coffee and cake", because we used coffee filters, (over 600 overall for twenty girls) and a cardboard cake circle for this big, lovely 3D Wall Flower! I hand dyed the coffee filters with watered down paint, and we glued them allover an 8" cardboard cake round, the type used in cake decorating. I used a snippet of chartreuse green chiffon as a hanger, glued to the back. I think it is a lovely Spring decoration. Darling for Easter, spring, girly wall decor', a door wreath....anywhere a touch of flowery punch would be enjoyed! Even the kindergartners could do this with ease! My 5th graders loved it too!

Our Annual Fashion Show!!!!!!

Our Annual Fashion Show is coming up at the end of the school year!!!!! Our news letter will be coming home soon, watch for it! Each Diva needs a new pair of flip flops, any "diva" color, and she needs to bring her own hairbrush to the show! We will be making our Fashion Show t-shirt soon too! Yea!!!!!!!

A Birthday....and it looks like Rain!

This week, we celebrated one of our Diva's birthday! She was born on Feb 29th, LEAP YEAR!

Since she only has a real birthday every four years....we ate twinkies with frosting and sprinkles....and.....sang!

So we made it special with a "Birthday Cake" collage using antique wall paper, a bit of paint, and sparkle. Everyone made one in this class, and added her own birthdate! A sweet alternative to a monogram! Fun to display every year!

And....our other classes made this Darling cloud mobile with big sparkly stones as raindrops!

SOOOO Sweet! The face is hand stitched!

I love this cute little mouse beanbag! We all made this cute mouse with fun printed fabrics and stuffed him with CORN! He is poseable, and sweet, and has a handstitched mouth and really LONG eyelashes! So fun!

Well, it's been a while huh? We went speeding throught the holidays, even had some snow and ice that cancelled our last class before Christmas! (more later about a make-up of Wednesday's Class)

Anyway, I wanted to show the Darling project we are doing this week.

This is a cute little "Hot Stuffie" but it is stuffed with corn! It looks like an old fashioned Hot Water Bottle! You put it in the microwave and heat it up for a snuggly cozy buddy for these frosty days! So cute!

Next week's project is darling as well....something I have been meaning to do for a long time!!!

Sweet Little Watercolour

Hey, I still have lots of updates to do here, but I wanted to post this sweet little Snowman Watercolour that we did last week. We framed it in this cute white frame, and added some sparkly frosty glitter to the corner....just like frost on the window! They were so sweet, and a perfect way to start our "Sparkle Do's" season! We did this darling little canvas with a cool masking tape technique for our "Birch Trees" art. We masked out the trees, and painted our backgrounds. We removed the tape. Then detailed the trees. And, as you all know, we don't leave well enough alone!!! We added these adorable watercoloured (by me) birds to the trees. So sweet! I love the cute art projects we make in here! Like nothing else anywhere!!

What's That? Do you smell something? Well, We sure do! Today we made scented Sachets! We had a choice of Lavender or Pink Grapefruit! We made these pretty little pillow bags and scented them with essential oils. We also made a Fall bookmark since the girls are doing AR in school. The girls were giddy with all of the dizzy smells! They were split about half and half on which scent they chose. Then....Candy!

Oh, I feel SOOOO Official! We got our new car window stickers just in time for the first class! They have our official "Sorority" design, since we are a big silly sorority! I like to call our little group "Sisters In Creativity"! If you did not pick one up this week, be sure to grab one next time! They're FREE! Whew!!!!!

We had our first meetings this week! This was the first time we ever had our Diva Do's classes start in the first week of school! In honor of the first school week, we made this darling "Apple" dress! I made the dresses, dyed them a chambray blue, and we painted the Granny Smith Green Apples on it in class! The girls did a fabulous job! We finished it off with a scrappy fabric flower pin that we glued, (my fav), colored gem stones on to. I think this is so sweet for this HOT time of the year. So cute with flip flops now, layered over leggings or jeans later.

We based our snack on the apple theme as well. We ate sliced green apples with caramel sauce. drank apple punch, and had green candy! All in all it was a blast, but now that I am past the first week...I am applesauce!!!!

Our New Theme!

Miss "C" and I have been discussing the theme for this year! We have already decided on the theme for this years Fashion Show...even if it is in May! We are soOooO excited! I believe this will be the BEST show theme we've ever done! I have been wanting to do this idea for years!

I am not revealing just yet...you know we always keep these thing a surprise....but it is the girliest, prissyest, most over the top theme we've ever done!!! I can't wait!

For all of you newbies, our End-Of-Year-Fashion Show is the final project of the year, a big party really, where we show off the outfits we have been working on, award our trophies, and eat cake!

This years theme will not dissapoint! Join us, won't you?

OK, Divas, Here is the schedule for Fall! We will have two days to choose from, Tuesday or Wednesday.

The class time is from 3:00 to 4:00, either day. Depending on your grade, you will either be in the Sparkle Pink Diva Room, or The Funky Lime Diva Room. We are limiting the class size this year to 10 girls per class. Miss Cadley and Queen La Diva will be the teachers.

For the Newbies, here's the deal...

We meet at 3:00 at "The House". (that's 732 Gunter Avenue)

Some of you coming from the Elementary School will be early, that's fine! Come on in, and get settled. We will have snack at the beginning of class (provided by us) and then get to work! Our project is a SURPRISE every week! We will do art, craft, fashion, whatever! We will do all new projects this year! Some hand sewing, some machine sewing, painting, new and unusual techniques and fun silly stuff! We will make several clothing items this year, have the annual "Tailgate Party" for Homecoming, (pizza in the yard, watch parade), and our annual End-Of-Year Fashion Show! We will award the "Doozies", our fun trophy, to each girl at the Show.

If you signed up at the Fashion Show last year...you are on the list! Please confirm that you are still coming this year by leaving a comment, or call Queen LA Diva at 256-582-1497.

We are limited at this time, and only have 7 spaces left for ALL FOUR CLASSES COMBINED!

We will meet every week of the Guntersville School Year! Guntersville's "out of school" days will be "no Diva Do's " days as well.

We are one third full for our play for June! If you are interested, please call me or email! I have had one request to move the play to July so more kids can be in it. So many of you are going on vacay...I know!! But, if we can fill this June slot, we will do another in July! Announcing Our Summer Project! A Play!!!!!

Diva Do's is planning to produce a Darling Summer play this June! We are doing a fun one act play called, "When Life Gives You Lemons",about kids solving a problem! Written, directed and produced by Kelly and Cadley Jackson! We are going to cast children from kindergarten to third grade. We will have rehearsals done in a "Day Camp" style with morning rehearsals from 9:00 to 11:00 for Monday to Friday with a tentative date of June 14-18, 2010, and our performance matinee on Saturday, June 19th at 2:00 pm. If you are interested in another date! Email us! We will have our performance on our large front porch with the audience in the shady yard. All children will have at least a couple of lines! No "bit" parts here! We will also be working on costuming and sets as part of our class. Snacks provided.
Loads of theatrical fun! We are calling our little group "The Drama Queens", aptly named for these high energy girls! We will even have a couple of boy roles for siblings! Our theatre camp will be $30.00 per child for the week, including show tickets for the family! Sign up now! Space limited!

Oh, It has been a while! We have been very busy! We are currently working on our Fashion Show! This is our end of the year...did I say that???....project! We have about twenty girls in our show this year! That's forty outfits!!! Yikes! We block printed our show tee last week. I will reveal it later. We keep our show theme and outfits top secret until show time! We had a pretty good practice yesterday. I went ahead and scheduled a rain date for the following week in case of you know what! It has rained around here for weeks! This is our sixth year to do this show outside, and we've been lucky so far...hope I don't jinx it! I love the theme this year! The prettiest we've done yet!! More on that later! In the mean time, I'll just say we are always running late on this stuff but in the end it turns out....um....Wonderful!

Included here are our girly raggy dreamcatcher, a clothespin doll, a big fabric "Lollypop Flower", our "Cute as a Button" collage, and my personal fav...our Vintage locket, "Owl Will Always Love You" from Valentines Day week.

Hey! Welcome back!
I am so glad to be back in the Diva Room this week! It has been a long time since an update...lots going on in December!
This was our first project of the New Year!
We made a little painting in each class based on POP and Mod Art styles.
The K-1's did theirs on Jackson Pollock, the famous splatter painter of the 60's era.
And, the 3-4 graders made this cute "Chain Link" mod painting.
We did these in our signature Diva Do colors! I Love them!
The framed piece was our inspiration piece...LOOOVE it Tooo!

I just love these tidy little tile and plaque projects! Another chance to one of my fav's, decoupage'! The Thanksgiving one was on wood with our Thankful Lists, and the peppermint striped little tiles started out as coasters, but we turned them into coffeetable art!

I originally designed this project when my DD was in kindergarten. Now, she taught this to her K-1 class! I made this hot pad out of wooly fabric and brown canvas. They printed their handprint in brown paint, added details, and TaaDaa! A Darling Turkey HotPad for Thanksgiving! The special secret is to add cinnamon, spice & herbs inside before sewing it closed so it add a delightful aroma when it holds a hot dish!
Fun memory...when I did these in kindergarten for my DD, I looked around the room after we finished and was shocked that every child had a brown smudge on their face! I realized they had been sitting there smelling the hotpad until the cinnamon had dusted through and covered their faces! Precious!

Last week my Big Girl Divas made this Glam Mirror with nifty air dry clay and sparkly jewels! They were quietly immersed in their work until I had to tell them the moms were waiting outside for pick up! I love it when they love the process!

We made this pretty Pumpkin necklace with original artwork, beads and glass marbles!
So pretty for Fall, Thanksgiving, and cool weather dressing. The art was drawn on old pages of a thrift store book. The wool backing was from a felted sweater. Sweet!

The Little ones made this darling Ghost Halloween knot top! I made the black gingham knot top and they painted the face and added the bow. Scary Cute!

Early Halloween Crafting and a Literary Statement

OK, these are last weeks projects. I am a little behind on posting...
The Little Bitties made these cute embellished hair combs to get ready for Halloween Wear! The Bigger Divas made a Literary Necklace, paper beads made from both decorative paper and pages from and old novel gleaned from the throw away pile at the thrift store. One of my Divas asked..."Queen La Diva, Were you SUPPOSED to cut up that book?" Yes, I stressed the importance of not cutting up valid books, and it did take me a while to get the nerve to cut this one, but it was destined to the trash, and I figured it could have a new life to be used in several of our projects. Actually one of my favorite hobbies is reading old thrown away books I dig out of discard piles. Some of my fav stories are from these unwanted treasures! Good Carline reading!

Sisters In Creativity!

This is our class Tee Shirt! Since we are a group of girls who get together and create, I think of us as a sorority. So, I designed this tee with our "Greek" letters, to represent Di Va Do's DVD! Cute huh? By the way, I stenciled the shirts myself in hot pink with, of course, glitter!

Crafty Updates!

We have been busy for a few weeks! I wanted to update everyone on our projects!
The Little Bitties made "Diva Dough", our version of pink play dough with glitter!
The Big Girls made an oil painted collage of a paper cupcake.
The next week, our cute terry Bath Mitts were a fun stitching and fusing project for both classes! The Little Bitties made a pig design and the Big Girls made a hip abstract blue and brown design. The older girls made a blue salt scrub to use in the bath as well!
This week we made these cute painting projects: LB's made the "Colorpillar", a color mixing exercise, that turned into a cute collage. The Biggies made this beautiful stenciled knit scarf with the Brown Chandelier design. I love the freezer paper technique!

Now I have to think of something to top all of this for next week!

You Crack Me Up!

This week, we made the darling "You Crack Me Up" picture frame project. First we painted a black frame with crackle medium, then pink (of course) paint. After the crackleing, we decoupaged random strips of torn decorative papers around the frame to add some texture and depth of colors & patterns. After sealing, we were ready to put our fav pics in our funky new frames! The older class was able to be more creative with the colors, and choosing their own decorative elements.

Our First class was....um....WOW!
We were fully packed with excited girls yesterday! We actually had alot more show up than we expected, so we even ran over in time to get everyone's project finished. So many cute girls, so many returning as well as newbies.
Our project was an adorable "Snap Link" necklace we made by snapping the vintage
1960's plastic snap links together in fun retro colors, and then adding a handmade pendant made from a wood base with decoupaged art paper and a fun vintage initial all tied up with cute fall ribbon! So cool and fun for back to school wear!
Thanks girls, we'll hand out tee's next week at class! ( I decided to wait until EVERYONE could get their shirt at the same time so no tears for the walk ins)

I know we are into the Christmas area now, but I wanted to share these cute trivets we made for Thanksgiving. We adhered original artwork onto a tumbled marble tile. How Cute!

Well, we started working on our Christmas shirts this week! They look soooo good! The glitter is flying & we are sloshing around in it on the floor! The shirts usually take two class periods to finish, but we are doing another project next week too. Lots to do before Christmas break!

Most people hate Mondays, but let me tell you..it's a pleasure to work with my Monday Divas!
This class is pretty young, but they really do a great job on the projects! This is one of my bigger classes with 10, but we get in there , focus, & turn out "Darling Do's"
Miss Abby Kaye brought me a cute "Diva" sign! We hung it up in her corner..Thanks AK!

When I told people I was doing a Kindergarten class, they thought I was crazy! But, I have to say this is probably my most organized class. These girls are so sweet! We have very few tears to be so little. And, I love the way they tell each other their project is pretty!
Also, I have to give alot of credit to my daughter, Cadley, for helping so much with this class.
She has been a Diva since second grade & she knows this class inside & out. She has really enjoyed being a teacher this year. She is often heard saying "I Love My Class". The girls seem to love her and she really keeps the project going on track and turning out cute! Thanks Cadley, I couldn't do this class without your leadership!

I call my Cherokee class my in between class since they are not so little, but not so big. And, they are not all from Guntersville either. This class has the most out of towners of all. I appreciate the effort to get here from other towns. This class has one Diva that has been coming for about as long as we've had Diva Do's...Yea Mary Frances!

Thursday is my Middle School class..the one that started it all! This class is smaller, but we do more in depth projects. This is known as my "rowdy" class but I am thankful for their enthusiasm. These girls put alot of their own personality into their work. And, they eat ALOT of pizza rolls!

Middle School Girls: This is for Thursdays class. If you haven't already, bring your pair of jeans to the next meeting. We will begin this project when everyone has theirs at class. Make sure they still fit! You don't want to do all of that work for a pair that is too tight!

Cherokee & Elementary School Girls: We will be working on an adorable project this week. As always though..it's a SECRET! See you there! QLD
